Employ Tomorrow's Workforce

Youth Job Connection prepares Charlotte's youth ages 14-24 for the workforce by providing job readiness training and placement assistance. Employers save time and money by getting qualified, pre-screened applicants who have made a commitment to their future.

INVEST IN OUR FUTURE
When you hired a certified Youth Job Connection applicant, you are making an investment in your community. More importantly, you are making an investment in tomorrow's workforce.

Applicants have already made a commitment to working for you long before you see their resume. They have demonstrated their determination and enthusiasm for employment by completing a series of training programs, including:

  • Customer service
  • Job readiness
  • Financial education

Completing these programs provides them a certificate of completion from the program and a strong foundation on which to build a bright employment future.

Job opportunities for youth provide a real-world lesson in responsibility and accountability. Today's youth already have much working against them. Violence and crime are four times greater during after school hours and youth are 37% more likely to become teen parents if they are not engaged in productive non-school activities.

With support from Goodwill and the City of Charlotte, you can make a difference in the lives of youth in our community. Invest in their future with an employment opportunity today.

    Mayor's Youth Employment Program

Take your commitment to the community one step further and provide career-based experience to a high school senior (particularly students from Charlotte-Mecklenburg FOCUS schools) through the Mayor's Youth Employment Program.

As a component of the Youth Job Connection, MYEP provides older youth the opportunity to explore careers of their interest before graduation. Only high school seniors who are certified by the Youth Job Connection and have completed the application process are eligible for the MYEP. As an employer of an MYEP youth, you will receive:

    • Motivated high school senior interested in your field of work
    • Applicant with demonstrated work experience or extracurricular activities
    • Worker with a professional/personal reference
    • On-going support from MYEP staff
    • Community recognition
    • Worker who has gone through background test/drug screening
