Goodwill works closely with local employers to develop in-depth programs that prepare people for jobs in specific industries such as banking, call centers and customer service, hospitality and construction. Individuals interested in learning skills specific to those industries may elect to enroll in Goodwill's occupational skills training classes.
Banking & Customer Service Training Students learn the skills needed for a variety of banking positions, such as Tellers, Proof Encoding, Error Correction, Cash Letter Preparation, Balancing, Reject Re-entry and Customer Service; as well as the basic skill requirements of a customer service representative and business etiquette. Construction Skills Training Individuals quickly developing the basic knowledge and skills necessary to obtain an entry level position or better in the construction industry. The classes at Goodwill, taught by Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) credentialed instructors, will also provide OSHA state certification for safety. Click here for more information
Hospitality & Tourism Training Students are provided classroom and hands-on training utilizing the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute Curriculum. Banquet set-up and service, customer service scenarios, simulated use of hospitality reservation software and industry-level use of a computer are among the hands-on training. OMITT Trade School Students learn electrical installation/maintenance, HVAC maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, automotive repair/maintenance and small engine repair, as well as four-function math, blueprint reading, and hands-one training in the use of basic hand tools, machine shop tools, mechanical fasteners, and, precision measurement instruments. Basic PC Skills Training Individuals receive hands-on training with one-on-one coaching in the basic essentials of computer operations, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and basic typing skills. Click here for more information.
Customer Service Call Center Training Students are provided with interactive training in the best practices of enhancing customer relationships and the dynamics of customer satisfaction.
