Items We Can't Use

We appreciate your generosity and the tremendous support the community gives to Goodwill. However, there are a few items that we are unable to accept for a variety of reasons. Many of the items on this list are subject to health and safety concerns. Others cannot be sold in our retail centers, and the cost of disposing of these items reduces funding available to support our employment and training programs.

Please take a moment to review the list of items Goodwill is unable to accept. We appreciate your understanding.

Goodwill does not accept donations of the following:

  • Building materials (lumber, concrete, doors, windows, bricks, stones, shutters, screens, etc.)
  • Children's Car Seats
  • Clothing items that are torn, stained or wet
  • Furniture and large household items that are extremely soiled or damaged beyond reasonable repair
  • Hazardous, flammable and toxic materials (paint, thinners, gasoline, kerosene, oil, household cleaners, etc.)
  • Home Fixtures
  • Live plants or animals, fish, birds, etc.
  • Mattresses, bed springs, box springs and bed pillows
  • Newspapers, magazines, household trash and garbage
  • Non-working household appliances
