Goodwill Receives Community Partnership Award
|
Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont received the "Community Partnership Award" at the 6th Annual CharlotteSaves Community Partnership Luncheon on February 25, 2010.
Goodwill was honored for playing a significant role in promoting financial self-sufficiency among its staff, participants in the agency's job training and employment programs, and the general public.
North Carolina State Treasurer Janet Cowell was the keynote speaker and Mark Mathis from FOX News Rising served as the master of ceremonies during the event held at Blue Restaurant in Uptown Charlotte.
CharlotteSaves promotes its core message of “Build Wealth, Not Debt” through partnerships with organizations throughout our community, who work together to encourage, persuade and assist financially vulnerable Charlotte households with savings and wealth building. It is under the umbrella of America Saves, which is a nationwide campaign in which a broad coalition of non-profit, corporate, and government groups helps individuals and families save and build wealth.
In 2009 alone, over 6,200 people attended one of 330 CharlotteSaves community education programs.
